	ML&S appointed sole distributor for Microbit's Remote-Rig Interface. New version of Remoterig system available RRC-1258MkIIS (Dual RX) A new version of the RRC-1258MkII which support Rigs with dual receivers is now available and will replace the existing RRC. The only differences is that new hardware have a dual channel codec which can be used to transfer to separate audio channels from the radio to the control position. Of course the demand of bandwidth is doubled in the direction from the radio to control position. When the Dual RX feature is not activated the new RRC-1258MkIIs is fully compatible with the earlier version. The firmware is also the same and all coming updates will support all three models. The new model looks exactly the same as the current version, it's only a new jumper inside. The high power (3W) speaker amplifier is still a single channel so if you want to use speakers you need to connect speakers with built in amplifiers, for example PC-speakers. Stereo headset can be connected directly to the RRC. The most important improvement for the user is that it's much simpler to make the cables to the radio stations and in many cases it possible to use standard "off the shelf" cables. The housing is also new and custom made to make it more simple to open and reconfiguring. Another news is that there are straps inside which makes it simple to configure the system for different radios. The mods. for the CW-keyer are already there. We only need to have one model in stock for all radios. The firmware will be the same both for the new MkII and the first version. From the beginning it was intended to be used with Icom IC-706 and later Kenwood TS-480 and TS-2000 where the control panel could be separated from the radio. Later on support for more traditional remote control has been implemented. RRC-1258 is used in pairs with one unit connected to the Radio and the other to the control panel or control equipment (e.g. a PC running a rig control program). All of the above solutions has in common that no PC is needed at the radio site and the audio and data signalling is passing between the RRC-1258 units without any involvement of the PC. Support is now implemented for ICOM, YAESU, KENWOOD and Elecraft and some other brands using the same protocol structure.
