The Yaesu FTdx5000 is an awesome rig to look at, but it is even more impressive "under the hood". Yaesu engineers have achieved 112 dB dynamic range and an IP3 [3rd Order Intercept Point] of +40 dBm (CW, 500 Hz BW).
Newly designed, extra sharp roofing filters for VFOA/Main receiver are selectable between 300 Hz (optional on some versions), 600 Hz, 3 kHz, 6 kHz and 15 kHz. Yaesu incorporates two of their famous custom designed 32 bit floating point DSP chips based on the TI TMS320C6727B running at 300 MHz one for VFO A and one for VFO B.
Enjoy state of the art on the transmit side with a pair of reliable VRF150 FETS in a push-pull configuration yielding 200 watts (75 watts class A operation). Three electro-luminescent subdisplays indicate sub frequency, graphical wave and menu functions. The rear panel features a 9 MHz IF out from VFO Main receiver. Other enhancements include: large multi-function meter and variable CW audio peak filter.

Best Transceiver I have Encountered
One word Wow I received the 5000mp on march 12th this year the performance of the receiver is second to none,I use a Heil PR-781 microphone with the radio and get reports of Crystal clear audio. All controls are right in front of you no having to troll menus to find the power Knob or Contour Control everything's there A+++ Well done Yaesu de G0UDG
Best I've ever owned
Got mine secondhand from ML&S (Traded in IC 756 pro 3 and Kenwood TS 480 HX) DSP is awesome. Transmit audio if mentioned at all is always praised. Spectrum scope not as useless as some reviewers claim but you can certainly live without it.. Bottom line is I can't see me replacing it in my lifetime unless it dies before I do
FTDX5000MP is a different world
I have owned my FTDX5000MP for a couple of months now, after upgrading from my FT1000MP mk V, fully loaded with filters. I have had a chance to get to know the features, which ones are useful. Others not so much (actually I have not found any non-useful features so far). I also use this with an EXPERT 1K-FA linear, which simply purrs with a Class-A input. I can honestly say that this radio has exceeded all my expectations and more. If you need something, all the knobs and dials are there for you to use. If you need to filter out frequencies close to you, or simply bring down the noise. You can do it easy. The person you want, suddenly seems to jump out to you as if you are both alone on the band. If you want to connect to your PC or Linear. No problem. Running a linear is easy. As you dial the frequency or change the band. The linear follows what you want. You need to check a few things VSWR or quality of voice or output power. Or want a clean signal to your linear using Class-A. You can just do it! You need to tune in your antenna, its raining a little. Or, you are experimenting with antennas that are not so resonant as you wish. No problem, press and hold tune and you are done!. You need more antennas...just plug them into the four outputs and switch on the radio. In fact, I have never come across a radio that is so easy to use, robust in what it is able to achieve but also has the presence of superiority in a single box. This radio is the best buy I have EVER made in Ham radio. It will be a few years before I consider upgrading. Well worth the money! ML&S team have been excellent from 'thinking about buying it',to 'actually putting together a deal'. No pressure at all, but excellent advice and support. Thank you. 73's G3GXG
