Hi Steve.

Just a quick note to say a huge thank you for preparing such a great course for us over the last couple of Saturdays, and please also pass on thanks to your wife for adjudicating.  I will definitely carry on to study for the Intermediate Licence later this year at ML&S.  I was also really impressed with the store and the knowledgable and friendly staff.  When I come to buy my radio gear after the next exam it will, without doubt, be from Martin Lynch and Sons.

Kind regards,

Jeff Wood

The “Ham Radio Training Academy”  is located at ML&S, Wessex House, in Staines upon Thames, and is a large dedicated area on the first floor. It was purpose built to allow prospective candidates to gain the Foundation, Intermediate and Advanced (Full) Amateur Radio Licences.

The training facility will be run by several experienced radio amateurs, together with assistance from two local Radio Clubs. The instructors have combined experience in all three levels of instruction.

In addition to the above instructors, at least one member from Martin's engineering team will be on site to assist.

To realise the maximum utilisation of the new training academy, it is also planned that other lectures, demonstrations and events are held at Wessex House. Initial proposals include:

“Learning Morse Code in the 21st Century”, underlining the efficiency of the mode in getting messages across with simple means over very long distances. Two FOC members and experts will introduce Morse code and how to get started with modern software tools for learning.

How to use a modern Ham Radio station and maximise efficiency throughout careful design and planning of the entire “Shack”. This is aimed at all levels of Ham Radio operation starting at the most basic set up through to the far more advanced, experienced Ham radio operators will pass on their years of experience.

Most of all, the new training academy will be a centre promoting excellence in all aspects of Amateur Radio, from getting your foundation licence and making your first QSO, to working DX and running DX-peditions.
