Heil BM-17
A lightweight communications headset for portable operation, contesting, DXing and everyday amateur radio use, available in single or dual-sided versions with either Heil Dynamic or iC electret microphone elements.
The redesigned Heil BM-17 is finished in black with Heil Ham Radio branding and combines a comfortable lightweight headset with a flexible swivel-mounted boom microphone.
The microphone boom can be positioned on either the left or right side, while four headset configurations allow you to choose between single or dual-ear listening and the correct Dynamic or iC microphone element for your transceiver.
Four Versions Available
For Yaesu, Kenwood, Flex & Other Low-Z Radios
The BM-17 Dynamic uses Heil's low-impedance Dynamic communications element and is the normal choice for compatible Yaesu, Kenwood and FlexRadio transceivers.
Its microphone frequency response is specified at 120Hz to 10kHz, providing communications-focused transmit audio for amateur radio use.
Designed for Compatible Icom Radios
The BM-17 iC uses Heil's specialised electret element, designed to work with the microphone bias voltage provided by compatible Icom transceivers.
The iC element requires DC bias power and has a specified microphone response of 35Hz to 12kHz.
Choose the element type recommended for your radio. The iC version requires a suitable bias-passing Icom adaptor and should not be substituted for the Dynamic version on Yaesu, Kenwood, FlexRadio or other radios requiring a Dynamic microphone element.

Designed for Radio Operation
The BM-17 uses sensitive headset speakers that require relatively little AF drive from the transceiver while providing clear, low-distortion communications audio.
Replaceable acoustic foam earpads help keep the headset lightweight and allow worn pads to be replaced rather than requiring replacement of the complete headset.
Position the Microphone Where It Suits You
The flexible microphone boom is swivel-mounted to the headset, allowing it to be positioned on either the left or right side.
The boom can then be adjusted to place the microphone element correctly in relation to your mouth for consistent transmit audio.
Choose How You Want to Listen
The dual-sided BM-17 provides audio to both ears and supports stereo receive audio when used with compatible equipment, making it well suited to contesting, DXing and longer operating sessions.
The single-sided BM-17 leaves one ear uncovered, making it a useful option for portable operation, shared rooms or situations where you need to remain aware of your surroundings.
Separate Microphone and Headphone Plugs
The BM-17 microphone cable terminates in a red 1/8-inch mono plug, while the headphone connection terminates in a black 1/8-inch stereo plug.
A 1/8-inch to 1/4-inch headphone adaptor is supplied with the headset.
The appropriate Heil AD-1 series interface connects the microphone lead to the transceiver and provides the connection arrangement required for a compatible Heil hand or foot PTT switch where applicable.
A suitable Heil adaptor cable is required for most base and mobile transceivers and is not included with the BM-17 unless specifically stated. Use the adaptor finder above to identify the correct ML&S adaptor SKU for supported radios.

Upon receipt of goods you have 14 days to return goods however the goods must be returned in original packaging and care must have been taken with the goods you wish to return. Under distance selling regulations you are not entitled to any refund on carriage charges or modification charges made at your request. Large items cannot be returned if they have been assembled, unless faulty.
Warranty Terms and Conditions
Outside of the 14 faulty return period, returned items cannot be accepted, unless covered by manufacturer's warranty. We will repair as much as possible on site however in exceptional circumstances products may have to be returned to the manufacturer of distributor.
For repairs/replacements under manufacturer’s warranty for any item please download a ML&S return form from the link above and return to ML&S with the faulty product.
International Warranty information
Warranty service for items we sell is available in the U.K. only, unless otherwise noted. It is your responsibility to pay freight for returned items to the U.K. and back to you for desired warranty coverage. All of our NEW products come with a minimum 12 month warranty, (Yaesu & Icom 24 months), with up to 90 days on second-hand equipment. Items returned for service must state "returned goods for repair" on the return air waybill or U.K. import customs duties apply and will be added to your invoice.
