Messi & Paoloni Hyperflex 5 is a compact 5.4mm 50 ohm coaxial cable designed to combine excellent flexibility with strong screening and low loss for its size.

Its stranded copper inner conductor uses 19 individual copper wires, helping the cable remain exceptionally flexible and making it particularly well suited to portable installations, short patch leads, mobile applications and antennas where the feed line needs to move with a rotator.

A 120-wire reactive copper braid and 100% screened copper foil provide high screening performance, while the 87% velocity factor and lightweight construction make Hyperflex 5 a versatile alternative where larger 7mm or 10mm coax would be unnecessarily bulky.

DIAMETER
5.4mm

Compact enough for portable, mobile and equipment interconnection applications.

VELOCITY FACTOR
87%

High velocity ratio from the physically foamed polyethylene dielectric.

SCREENING
A++ Screening

Screening efficiency greater than 105dB between 100MHz and 2000MHz.

FLEXIBILITY
Highly Flexible

19-strand copper centre conductor designed for repeated movement and tight installations.

Flexible Construction

Why Choose Hyperflex 5?

Hyperflex 5 is the most flexible coaxial cable in the M&P range. Its construction is specifically suited to installations where ordinary solid or less flexible coax can place unnecessary strain on connectors or moving antenna systems.

M&P uses a 120-wire copper braid manufactured on a 24-spool braiding machine. This gives 50% more braid crossovers than a conventional 16-spool construction, combining strong screening with a braid that reacts to twisting and bending in a spring-like manner.

At just 4.4kg per 100 metres, it is also relatively lightweight, reducing the load placed on hanging cable runs and rotator-operated antennas.

Applications

Where Hyperflex 5 Works Best

Hyperflex 5 is especially useful where flexibility and compact cable diameter matter as much as outright attenuation performance.

HF
HF Stations

An excellent compact feed line for typical HF runs, portable stations and installations where a larger cable is inconvenient.

MOVEMENT
Rotator Antennas

Extreme flexibility makes Hyperflex 5 particularly useful around moving antenna systems and rotator loops.

INTERCONNECTS
Patch Leads and Jumpers

Compact diameter and good flexibility make it ideal for short interconnections around the shack.

Selecting Cable Length

M&P Cable Length Guidance

M&P provides the following guidance to help choose the correct cable size for transmitting applications. These are recommendations rather than absolute cable length limits.

Example Frequency Excellent Good M&P Guidance
14MHz Up to 50m Up to 75m Consider larger coax above 75m
28MHz Up to 35m Up to 50m Consider larger coax above 50m
50MHz Up to 28m Up to 40m Consider larger coax above 40m
144MHz Up to 10m Up to 20m M&P recommends 10.3mm coax above 20m
430MHz - Up to 5m M&P recommends 10.3mm coax above 12m
1296MHz - Up to 3m Use lower-loss 10.3mm coax for longer runs
