The Momobeam RF Choke Balun range is designed to suppress common mode current and provide a clean transition between balanced resonant antennas and unbalanced coaxial feedlines. These broadband 1:1 current baluns / RF chokes are ideal for use with resonant dipoles, Yagi antennas and other 50 ohm antenna systems where unwanted RF on the outside of the coax can cause problems in the shack.

Common mode current can increase received noise, cause incorrect SWR meter readings and create interference with electronic devices near the station or antenna system. By adding a suitable RF choke at the antenna feed point, operators can help keep RF where it belongs and improve the stability and reliability of the antenna installation.

The Momobeam RF Choke Balun is suitable for use on Yagi antennas with a 50 ohm feed point or resonant dipoles with low SWR. It can also be used as a replacement for a damaged 1:1 RF choke or current balun in compatible antenna systems.

Three versions are available, allowing operators to choose the correct model for their required power level and installation.

Key Features

  • Broadband 1:1 current balun / RF choke
  • Designed to suppress common mode current on coaxial feedlines
  • Provides a transition between balanced resonant antennas and unbalanced coax
  • Suitable for resonant dipoles and Yagi antennas with 50 ohm feed points
  • Helps reduce received noise caused by feedline radiation
  • Helps prevent incorrect SWR readings caused by common mode current
  • Helps reduce RF interference in the shack or nearby electronic equipment
  • Can be used as a replacement for a damaged 1:1 RF choke / balun
  • Available in 1kW, 2kW and 4kW PEP versions
  • SO-239 coaxial input with two stainless steel bolt terminals on the opposite side

Typical Applications

  • Resonant dipoles
  • Yagi antennas with 50 ohm feed points
  • Half-wave dipole construction
  • Balanced antennas fed with coaxial cable
  • Replacement 1:1 current balun / RF choke installations
  • Reducing common mode current on HF antenna systems
  • Improving feedline behaviour in fixed and portable antenna installations

Important Note

This product is intended for balanced resonant antennas with low SWR, such as dipoles and Yagi antennas. It should not be confused with an unun for end-fed, random wire or other unbalanced antenna systems.
