Technical Description SHF-2344

THE SHF YAGIS

The 23 and 13 cm bands are among the UHF bands with the highest frequencies and offer their own fascinating propagation conditions. Here antennas with high gain are essential to achieve good results in the contest or in DX. Due to the relatively short wavelength, the demands on precision in antenna construction are significantly higher than, for example, on 2m. Because here an error of a few millimeters has a very clear effect and can lead to a bad adjustment or to non-optimal gain.

The WiMo SHF Yagis for 23 and 13 cm are based on the proven design of the DL6WU. The square boom tubes are drilled in one piece on a production machine to keep tolerances as low as possible. Likewise, the aluminum elements are automatically sawn with a maximum length tolerance of 0.1mm. These elements are then inserted and fastened with an exact centering in the boom. The dipole uses a balun made of semi-rigid coax cable and is therefore very robust and accurate to manufacture. In addition, the connections of the balun are covered with a protective varnish, and the connection box is sprayed watertight. Of course, the dipoles for the WiMo Yagis have an N socket. For 'hanging' systems, the baluns are also offered with 180° phase reversal, this simplifies the laying of coax cables in stacked antenna systems considerably. The dipoles are also offered individually as spare parts.

An 8-element reflector is used to minimize sidelobe noise. This ensures a good gain/temperature ratio, which is particularly important for EME and satellite operation. Because here the antennas are also adjusted in elevation so that the end points to the ground. And there's a lot of 'man-made noise' coming from the floor. The WiMo SHF antennas come pre-assembled, only the boom parts need to be assembled. The shortest Yagi designs are designed for foremast assembly, the longer models have a girder and must be installed on the end of the rotary tube or a boom.

Application SHF-2344

THE SHF-2344 YAGI (44 ELEMENTS)

With a length of 3m and a gain of 20 dBi, the SHF-2344 Yagi is ideally suited to be operated individually or as a group. The bandwidth of the antenna covers the entire 23cm band without any losses, and it does not get out of tune even in the rain. The dipole (N socket) can be loaded up to 500W. Due to the beam, this antenna can only be mounted on one end of the tube (boom, mast tip).

Dipole selection

The 23cm SHF Yagis are optionally available with 'Standard' and a special dipole (180°). This makes it easier to construct a group of antennas (1x2, 2x2, etc.).

Antennas with a normal dipole have the cable outlet at the bottom (with normal installation), antennas with a 180° dipole have the cable outlet at the top (with normal installation). This makes it much easier to couple 2 or 4 antennas with cables of exactly the same length to a 3dB splitter positioned in the middle.

Both dipoles are also available individually as spare parts.
