The Chameleon CHA WWC-34 is a compact wind-up counterpoise designed to improve the performance and tuning of portable HF antenna systems. Supplied on a small wheel winder, it is easy to deploy, retrieve and pack away, making it ideal for field operators, QRP users, POTA, SOTA and emergency communications setups.

A counterpoise acts as an artificial ground for antenna systems that do not use a traditional ground plane. When used with short loaded HF antennas, such as the Chameleon CHA MCC Multi Configuration Coil, the CHA WWC-34 helps balance the antenna system and provides a more effective return path for RF current. This can improve tuning stability, reduce losses and help the antenna work more efficiently, especially on lower HF bands.

The 34 Foot (~10.5m) wire length offers a useful balance between portability and performance. It is long enough to support effective operation across multiple HF bands, particularly when working from 10m to 40m with a compact loaded antenna system, while still being manageable for outdoor and portable use.

The counterpoise wire is made from 20 gauge tinned copper with PTFE, also known as Teflon, insulation. This gives it excellent resistance to heat, abrasion and harsh field conditions, with a wide operating temperature range of -70°C to +150°C. Whether used on grass, rocky ground, woodland paths or temporary portable stations, the CHA WWC-34 provides a simple and reliable way to improve your antenna setup.
