High Performance 10 / 15 / 20 Metre Tribander

M2 KT36XA High Performance Triband Yagi

A serious six-element 10, 15 and 20 metre beam developed from the original KLM KT-34XA, with high power handling, broad matching and rugged construction.

The M2 KT36XA is the result of extensive development of the original KLM KT-34XA, combining computer optimisation with range testing and real-world on-air evaluation.

Five elements are active on 20 metres and 15 metres, while all six elements operate on 10 metres, giving the KT36XA excellent performance across all three amateur bands.

A dual driven element, or log cell, provides a transmitter-friendly broadband match together with broad gain and front-to-back characteristics across 10, 15 and 20 metres.

10 / 15 / 20 Metres

High-performance triband operation covering the three major HF DX bands.

Six-Element Design

Five active elements on 20m and 15m, with all six elements active on 10m.

3kW Power Handling

Designed for high-power HF stations with a 3kW rated feed system.

100 MPH Wind Survival

Heavy-duty mechanical construction for permanent tower installations.

Broad Performance Across Three Bands

The KT36XA uses a dual driven log-cell arrangement to maintain a broad impedance match while providing strong gain and front-to-back performance across each operating band.

This gives the antenna wide usable bandwidth without requiring constant adjustment as you move around the 20, 15 and 10 metre bands.

Operating Frequency Ranges
  • 20 metres: 14.0 to 14.35MHz
  • 15 metres: 21.0 to 21.45MHz
  • 10 metres: 28.0 to 29.0MHz

Dual Driven Element and 3kW Balun

The dual driven element arrangement creates a broad, stable feedpoint characteristic across all three bands.

A 3kW 4:1 balun provides efficient matching to a standard 50 Ohm feedline, with the antenna using an SO-239 connector.

VSWR is specified at less than 1.5:1.

Heavy-Duty Mechanical Construction

M2 has upgraded the original KT-34XA concept with machined shorting bars and rugged centre element mounts, creating a mechanically strong antenna suitable for demanding permanent installations.

The antenna uses a substantial 32-foot boom with a 3-inch diameter and elements extending to approximately 25 feet.

With a turning radius of approximately 21.5 feet, this is a large tower-mounted antenna intended for operators looking for serious triband performance.
