PERFORMANCE-FOCUSED SDR ENGINEERING

Advanced HF technology. Remarkable value.

The Yaesu FT-710 Field delivers the receiver performance, digital signal processing and operating features of the FT-710 AESS in a more straightforward package. Its direct-sampling SDR architecture combines a high-resolution analogue-to-digital converter with FPGA processing and a powerful dual-core DSP.

Whether you're pursuing difficult DX, contesting, working CW or exploring FT8, the FT-710 provides sophisticated tools to help recover wanted signals in challenging band conditions. Its integrated automatic antenna tuner, spectrum display and external monitor connection also make it a versatile home-station transceiver.

The Field version includes the standard internal loudspeaker and a carrying belt kit instead of the AESS version's SP-40 external speaker. It remains a 13.8V DC-powered transceiver and does not include a battery.

CHOOSE YOUR FT-710

Field or AESS? The same radio, different accessories.

Both versions of the FT-710 offer the same essential transceiver specifications and receive performance. The distinction is the supplied speaker system and carrying accessories.

FT-710 Field

Supplied with the FT-710 transceiver, standard hand microphone, DC cable and carrying belt kit. The SP-40 speaker is optional.

FT-710 AESS

Includes the SP-40 external speaker for Yaesu's Acoustic Enhanced Speaker System, combining external and internal loudspeakers.

The SP-40 can be added to an FT-710 Field later if you would like to use AESS.

RECEIVER PERFORMANCE

Excellent close-in dynamic range

The FT-710 uses a low-noise oscillator system, carefully designed RF front-end filtering and high-resolution direct sampling to achieve strong receiver performance with closely spaced signals.

113dB+
RMDR

Reciprocal Mixing Dynamic Range at 2kHz separation.

127dB+
BDR

Blocking Dynamic Range at 2kHz separation.

102dB+
3rd IMDR

Third-order Intermodulation Dynamic Range at 2kHz separation.

Yaesu-published values for 14MHz at 2kHz separation under specified measurement conditions.

INDEPENDENT RECEIVER TESTING

Recognised by Sherwood Engineering

The FT-710 features in Sherwood Engineering's respected amateur-radio receiver test data, reflecting its strong close-in receiving capabilities.

Receiver rankings depend on the measurement selected and may change as additional radios are evaluated.

DIRECT-SAMPLING SDR TECHNOLOGY

High-resolution SDR receiving architecture

The FT-710 uses sophisticated direct-sampling SDR technology with high-resolution analogue-to-digital conversion and FPGA processing. This provides detailed control over received signals and supports a responsive, high-resolution spectrum display.

Band-specific RF filters reduce unwanted signals outside the selected amateur bands, while a low-noise oscillator contributes to the transceiver's close-in dynamic-range performance.

Dual-core 32-bit floating-point DSP processing offers extensive signal filtering and audio optimisation, particularly useful when operating CW or SSB near strong adjacent stations.

INTERFERENCE MANAGEMENT

Powerful DSP filtering

SHIFT and WIDTH

Move and adjust the receive passband to reduce interference from nearby signals.

IF NOTCH

Reduce troublesome carriers inside the selected receive passband.

DNR and DNF

Digital noise reduction and notch filtering improve listening comfort under appropriate conditions.

CONTOUR

Shape the received frequency response to help bring wanted signals into clearer focus.

DISPLAY AND CONTROL

A complete view of the band

The 4.3-inch colour touchscreen provides access to frequency settings, operating functions, real-time spectrum information and Yaesu's 3DSS (3-Dimensional Spectrum Stream) display.

Real-Time Scope

Monitor nearby signals and identify activity across the selected frequency range.

3DSS Visualisation

See changes in signal strength over time with three-dimensional presentation.

VFO Mode Indicator

Identify VFO-A, VFO-B, memory and clarifier/split operation using the front-panel LED indication.

TRANSMITTER AND ANTENNA MATCHING

100W output and integrated automatic tuner

With up to 100W transmit output on supported HF and 50MHz modes, the FT-710 Field provides the RF power expected of a modern base-station transceiver. UK 70MHz operation depends on the supplied destination configuration and applicable licence conditions.

The high-speed automatic antenna tuner includes a 100-channel memory system. Previously established tuning conditions can be recalled automatically when returning to familiar frequencies and antennas.

For specialised remote antenna installations, the FT-710 also supports the optional Yaesu FC-40 external automatic antenna tuner.

STATION CONNECTIVITY

Designed for digital and computer-assisted operation

Whether using FT8, traditional CW or computer-based station control, the FT-710 offers practical integration options for modern amateur-radio stations.

FT8 Preset

Convenient settings for common digital-mode configurations.

DVI-D Video Output

Connect a compatible external monitor for a larger operating display.

USB Type-A and Type-B

Connections for supported computer operation and accessories.

SD Card Slot

Store compatible operating information, settings, screen captures and firmware updates.

UK 70MHz / 4m Operation

The UK FT-710 specification includes coverage of the 70MHz amateur band. Depending on the radio's destination setting, the relevant UK frequency configuration may need to be enabled.

Compact, practical station installation

Measuring approximately 239 x 80 x 247mm and weighing around 4.5kg, the FT-710 provides a capable 100W station in a manageable desktop form factor. Its smaller size also makes it suitable for temporary or transportable installations with the appropriate external power equipment.

External 13.8V DC supply required

A suitable regulated power supply must be purchased separately. Yaesu specifies approximately 21A at full 100W transmission, so select a supply with adequate continuous-current capacity and ensure sufficient ventilation.
