Serious receiving performance, without the flagship price
The Yaesu FT-710 AESS is a compact 100W amateur-radio transceiver designed to deliver excellent receiver performance, intuitive operation and high-quality audio reproduction. Its direct-sampling SDR architecture employs high-resolution signal conversion and sophisticated processing technology developed from Yaesu's higher-end transceivers.
Combining a carefully designed RF front end with dual-core DSP, the FT-710 offers strong close-in signal handling and extensive interference-reduction controls. This makes it particularly appealing for DX, contest operation, CW, SSB and popular digital modes including FT8.
The AESS version includes Yaesu's matching SP-40 external speaker as standard, enabling the radio's enhanced acoustic system. Operators who do not require the supplied speaker can also consider the FT-710 Field version.
AESS. Experience radio audio differently.
The FT-710 AESS uses Yaesu's Acoustic Enhanced Speaker System to combine the transceiver's integrated speaker with the matching SP-40 external speaker. The two speakers work together to produce a wider, more spatial sound that can improve listening comfort over long operating sessions.
The balance and frequency characteristics of the internal and external speakers can be adjusted to suit the operator's preferences, giving greater control over received audio reproduction.
Supplied SP-40 Speaker
The matching SP-40 is included as standard with the AESS version and connects to the radio's external speaker socket.
Adjustable Sound Balance
Adjust the balance and frequency characteristics of the integrated and external speakers for preferred listening conditions.
The AESS function is designed specifically for the SP-40. Other external loudspeakers do not provide the same intended acoustic effect.
Exceptional performance with closely spaced signals
Yaesu designed the FT-710 around a low-noise oscillator, an advanced RF front end and high-resolution direct-sampling SDR technology. These systems contribute to strong receiver performance in environments where wanted signals must be recovered from among nearby interference.
Reciprocal Mixing Dynamic Range at 2kHz separation.
Blocking Dynamic Range at 2kHz separation.
Third-order Intermodulation Dynamic Range at 2kHz separation.
Yaesu-published receiver measurements for the 14MHz band at 2kHz separation, under specified test conditions.
Recognised by Sherwood Engineering
The FT-710 has earned recognition in Sherwood Engineering's widely referenced amateur-radio receiver measurements, reflecting its strong close-in signal-handling capabilities.
Test rankings depend on the measurement selected and can change as new receivers are added.
View Sherwood Receiver Test Data →Advanced SDR receiving technology
The FT-710 incorporates a direct-sampling SDR system built around high-resolution analogue-to-digital conversion and FPGA-based signal processing. This architecture reduces the number of analogue conversion stages while providing flexible digital filtering and high-resolution spectrum analysis.
A high-performance RF front end uses band-specific filtering to reduce unwanted out-of-band signals before digital conversion. The oscillator system is designed for low noise and excellent close-in reception characteristics.
Its SDR architecture is complemented by a dual-core, 32-bit high-speed floating-point DSP system, providing detailed control over interference reduction and receive audio processing.
Powerful DSP for challenging band conditions
SHIFT and WIDTH
Adjust the position and width of the receive passband to reduce interference from nearby signals.
IF NOTCH
Suppress unwanted carriers and persistent interference within the received signal.
DNR and DNF
Digital noise reduction and digital notch filtering help improve listening comfort.
CONTOUR Filtering
Shape the receive frequency response to improve signal intelligibility.
4.3-inch touchscreen with 3DSS
The FT-710 features a high-resolution 4.3-inch colour touchscreen that brings together operating information, spectrum visualisation and convenient access to functions. Yaesu's 3DSS (3-Dimensional Spectrum Stream) system provides an intuitive display of signals and changes in band activity.
Real-Time Spectrum
Observe signals and changing activity across the selected band segment.
3DSS Visualisation
Follow variations in signal strength over time with three-dimensional scope presentation.
VFO Mode Indicator
An illuminated indicator shows VFO-A, VFO-B, memory and clarifier/split operating status.
100W output with an automatic antenna tuner
The FT-710 delivers up to 100W RF output in supported modes across the HF and 50MHz amateur bands, with UK 70MHz operation dependent on the destination configuration. Output power can be adjusted to suit the operating mode and antenna system.
Its built-in high-speed automatic antenna tuner includes a 100-channel memory system for recalling previous tuning settings. This reduces the need for repeated matching when returning to familiar antennas and operating frequencies.
The FT-710 also supports the optional Yaesu FC-40 external automatic antenna tuner for suitable remotely located antenna arrangements.
Ready for modern station integration
The FT-710 provides USB connectivity, removable storage and an external digital display connection, making it suitable for operators who want to integrate their radio with a computer, digital-mode software or a larger station display.
FT8 Preset Mode
Convenient preset functionality for configuring the radio for popular computer-based digital modes.
DVI-D Display Output
Connect a compatible external display for a larger view of the radio's operating information.
Two USB Ports
USB Type-A and Type-B interfaces support compatible accessories and computer connectivity.
SD Card Slot
Removable memory-card support for applicable storage and settings functions.
UK 70MHz / 4m Operation
The UK FT-710 destination specification includes the 70MHz amateur band. Depending on the radio's supplied destination settings, configuration may be required to enable the relevant UK operating arrangements.
View the 4m Information Sheet →Compact base-station design
Measuring approximately 239 x 80 x 247mm and weighing around 4.5kg, the FT-710 is well suited to operators seeking strong HF receiver performance without a large desktop footprint.
The FT-710 operates from 13.8V DC and requires a suitable regulated external power supply. Yaesu specifies approximately 21A transmitting current at 100W output. Choose a supply with sufficient continuous-current capacity and allow adequate ventilation.
What's included?
The SP-40 is included as standard with the AESS version. The M-70 is an additional ML&S promotional accessory, available while stocks last. An external 13.8V DC power supply is not included.
