If you own an Icom IC-7300, you may already be familiar with a common annoyance: the internal clock resetting every time the radio is powered down.
This happens because the original internal backup battery is soldered directly to the PCB and will eventually go flat. Once depleted, the radio can no longer retain the time and date settings when switched off.
Our professional RTC battery modification resolves this issue by replacing the original soldered backup battery with a standard CR2032 coin cell battery holder. Once fitted, future battery changes can be carried out much more easily without soldering or repeat workshop visits.
How the Service Works
Once you have ordered this modification, we will send you a DPD return QR code so you can get your radio back to us safely.
Simply package your radio securely, take it to a suitable DPD drop-off point, and show the QR code. DPD will scan the code and apply the return label for you.
The price of this service includes the modification work and return shipping back to you once the job has been completed.
The Solution
Our workshop technicians will:
- Remove the original soldered backup battery
- Install a CR2032 coin cell battery holder
- Fit a standard, widely available CR2032 battery
- Test the radio before carrying out the work
- Return the radio to you once the modification is complete
Once completed, future battery replacement is simple:
- Remove the radio cover
- Pop out the old CR2032 battery
- Insert a new CR2032 battery
No soldering, no specialist tools, and no repeat workshop visit for the same battery replacement.

Upon receipt of goods you have 14 days to return goods however the goods must be returned in original packaging and care must have been taken with the goods you wish to return. Under distance selling regulations you are not entitled to any refund on carriage charges or modification charges made at your request. Large items cannot be returned if they have been assembled, unless faulty.
Warranty Terms and Conditions
Outside of the 14 faulty return period, returned items cannot be accepted, unless covered by manufacturer's warranty. We will repair as much as possible on site however in exceptional circumstances products may have to be returned to the manufacturer of distributor.
For repairs/replacements under manufacturer’s warranty for any item please download a ML&S return form from the link above and return to ML&S with the faulty product.
International Warranty information
Warranty service for items we sell is available in the U.K. only, unless otherwise noted. It is your responsibility to pay freight for returned items to the U.K. and back to you for desired warranty coverage. All of our NEW products come with a minimum 12 month warranty, (Yaesu & Icom 24 months), with up to 90 days on second-hand equipment. Items returned for service must state "returned goods for repair" on the return air waybill or U.K. import customs duties apply and will be added to your invoice.
