Messi & Paoloni EXTRAFLEX BURY 7 /.287" is a rugged 7.3mm 50 ohm low-loss coaxial cable designed for permanent outdoor installations, direct burial and applications where ordinary PVC-jacketed coax would not be suitable.
One of its biggest advantages is the amount of RF performance M&P has packed into such a compact cable. Despite measuring only 7.3mm in diameter, M&P states that EXTRAFLEX BURY 7 outperforms conventional RG-213/U and RG-8, cables normally associated with a much larger 10mm class construction.
It is also a significant step up from RG-8 Mini, commonly known as RG-8X. Where RG-8X is popular because of its relatively small size and flexibility, EXTRAFLEX BURY 7 provides substantially lower attenuation, making it much better suited to longer feed-line runs and higher-frequency operation.

7mm Cable with 10mm-Class Performance
Traditional RG-213/U is a proven coaxial cable, but its solid polyethylene dielectric and approximately 10.3mm outside diameter make it comparatively large and heavy. EXTRAFLEX BURY 7 uses a modern physically foamed dielectric and high-performance screening system to achieve lower attenuation from a cable only 7.3mm across.
The difference becomes even more pronounced when compared with RG-8 Mini / RG-8X. RG-8X offers convenient handling but its higher attenuation can quickly become significant on longer runs, particularly on 6m, 2m and 70cm.
In practical terms, this means you can retain much of the convenience of a smaller, more manageable cable without accepting the losses normally associated with RG-8X, while also achieving performance that M&P rates above conventional RG-213/U.
Built for Outdoor and Underground Installation
EXTRAFLEX BURY 7 is not simply a low-loss cable with a tougher coloured jacket. Its construction is specifically designed for permanent outdoor and underground installations.
Instead of the PVC jacket commonly used on flexible coax, M&P uses a tough UV-resistant polyethylene outer jacket designed for direct burial and prolonged outdoor exposure.
A layer of petrol jelly is applied around the braid to help protect it against oxidation and provide additional waterproofing protection.
Flexible, Low-Loss Construction
At the centre is a 19-strand copper conductor surrounded by a triple-layer physically foamed polyethylene dielectric. This construction contributes to the cable's high 83% velocity factor and low attenuation.
Screening is provided by a 100% copper foil layer followed by a 144-wire reactive copper braid with approximately 83% coverage.
The braid is manufactured using a 24-spool process rather than a conventional 16-spool machine. The resulting increase in crossover points helps the braid react to bending and twisting in a spring-like manner while maintaining excellent screening.
Where EXTRAFLEX BURY 7 Works Best
Ideal for antenna feed lines that need to cross gardens or other ground without relying on ordinary PVC-jacketed coax.
Useful where RG-213 performance or better is wanted but a lighter, smaller and more flexible cable would make installation easier.
An excellent upgrade where an existing RG-8X or RG-8 Mini run is introducing too much loss, particularly on VHF and UHF.
Low-Loss Performance
Cable loss increases with both frequency and cable length. EXTRAFLEX BURY 7 provides excellent performance for its compact diameter, with M&P specifying the following attenuation at 20°C.

The tough polyethylene jacket requires slightly different connector preparation from ordinary PVC coax. M&P recommends making two short longitudinal cuts in the jacket when fitting compatible connectors, or gently warming the jacket to soften it before assembly.

Upon receipt of goods you have 14 days to return goods however the goods must be returned in original packaging and care must have been taken with the goods you wish to return. Under distance selling regulations you are not entitled to any refund on carriage charges or modification charges made at your request. Large items cannot be returned if they have been assembled, unless faulty.
Warranty Terms and Conditions
Outside of the 14 faulty return period, returned items cannot be accepted, unless covered by manufacturer's warranty. We will repair as much as possible on site however in exceptional circumstances products may have to be returned to the manufacturer of distributor.

International Warranty information
Warranty service for items we sell is available in the U.K. only, unless otherwise noted. It is your responsibility to pay freight for returned items to the U.K. and back to you for desired warranty coverage. All of our NEW products come with a minimum 12 month warranty, (Yaesu & Icom 24 months), with up to 90 days on second-hand equipment. Items returned for service must state "returned goods for repair" on the return air waybill or U.K. import customs duties apply and will be added to your invoice.
