Build Your Own Radial System

Ground Disc for MC-750 Portable Antenna

Lightweight M10 × 1.5 radial connection disc with twelve 4mm connection points for building a custom portable ground-plane system.

The Ground Disc for MC-750 provides a simple way to add a larger, custom radial system to the MC-750 and other suitably configured portable antennas using an M10 × 1.5 mounting arrangement.

Twelve 4mm radial connection points are arranged around the 50mm disc, and twelve matching banana plugs are supplied so you can make radial wires to suit your own portable installation.

Rather than being tied to a fixed supplied radial length, this gives you the flexibility to choose the number, length and deployment pattern of the radial wires used with your antenna.

12 CONNECTIONS
Multi-Radial Setup

Twelve 4mm connection points allow multiple radial wires to be deployed around the antenna.

M10 × 1.5
MC-750 Compatible

Designed around the mounting arrangement used by the MC-750 portable vertical antenna.

CUSTOM RADIALS
Choose Your Own Wire

Make radial wires to the lengths required for your particular portable installation.

PORTABLE
Just 40g

Compact 50mm disc adds very little weight to a portable antenna kit.

Important
Radial Wires Must Be Prepared Before Use

This accessory is not a plug-and-play replacement for the original yellow MC-750 radial.

The Ground Disc uses 4mm banana plugs. Suitable radial wire must be cut to length, stripped and securely soldered into the supplied plugs before the radial can be connected to the disc.

MC-750 Owners

The Original Yellow Radial Does Not Fit

The yellow radial supplied with the standard MC-750 uses a 3mm connection format. The Ground Disc instead uses 4mm connections, so the original radial cannot simply be transferred to the disc.

The supplied 4mm plugs are intended to be fitted to newly prepared radial wires.

Radial Wire

Make the Radial System to Suit Your Setup

The manufacturer's recommendation is 0.75mm² RV wire. Other suitable flexible copper wire can also be used provided the stripped conductor can be securely fitted and soldered into the supplied 4mm banana plugs.

Flexible antenna wire such as Messi & Paoloni DipoFlex can also be used for custom radial construction where its conductor can be correctly terminated in the supplied plug.

Setup

Preparing the Ground Disc

1. Fit the Disc Install the Ground Disc onto the appropriate MC-750 spike arrangement.
2. Cut the Radials Prepare suitable radial wires to the required lengths.
3. Fit the Plugs Strip each wire and securely solder it into a supplied 4mm banana plug.
4. Deploy Connect the completed plugs and spread the radial wires around the antenna.
JPC-12 Compatibility

Use an MC-750 Spike

The standard JPC-12 spike is not long enough to accommodate the Ground Disc correctly. If using the disc with a JPC-12, replace the original spike with an MC-750 spike.

Original Yellow Radial Is Not Compatible

The standard yellow MC-750 radial uses a 3mm connection system. The Ground Disc uses 4mm connections, so new radial wires must be prepared using the supplied plugs.

Other Systems

JPC-12

The original JPC-12 spike is too short for correct Ground Disc installation. Use an MC-750 spike when fitting the disc to a JPC-12 system.
