Hog Roast D-Star Lecture

STARTING OUT IN D-STAR

Digital Voice in Amateur Radio has been around for over 10 years and yet many are still confused as to what it is and what it offers.

On our Hog Roast Special day, D-STAR enthusiast Chris G7DDN will be looking in layman’s terms at what Digital radio is, what D-STAR is within the family of Digital systems and how you can get started in this innovative mode.

Packed with pictorials and audio, Chris takes you on a journey of discovery through both the history and future of D-STAR, but in a way which the beginner can easily understand.

By the end of this presentation, you will have a grasp of what D-STAR is all about and how you can use it to make contacts from your own backyard to the other side of the world.

Chris will also have with him his home-brew portable hotspot - apparently he uses it in his car to piggy back on the mobile phone network for mobile QSOs - it’s all perfectly legal, honest guv, but don’t tell any of the mobile phone operators!

The Lecture will be taking place in our upstairs Training Academy and should kick-off around 11am on Saturday 5th Decemeber.
