Exclusive to Martin Lynch

The Dual Beam Pro is a centre-fed horizontal dipole using a non-resonant, capacitive end-loading design to provide a low-noise solution optimising performance and size.

The antenna provides a broad match across 9 HF bands but an external ATU is required to allow all the bands to be tuned.

Available in two variants, 400w and 1000w

This is an extremely lightweight centre-fed dipole antenna with a slim attractive profile, measuring just 5m overall. It can be readily roof-mounted like a TV aerial or attached to a mast with minimal loading.

The "beam" is bi-directional in that it radiates 2 lobes at right angles to the main element. It can be fixed in your preferred transmission directions or fitted on a lightweight rotator.

The Dual Beam Pro is a non-resonant design which presents a broadband match. Most modern transceivers have built in ATUs that may provide a match for some bands but an external ATU will be required to access all the bands.

The band coverage includes 40m, 30m, 20m, 17m, 15m, 12m, 11m, 10m & 6m. Note 40m efficiency is down relative to the other bands.

The Dual Beam Pro and I-Pro Home have been thoroughly tested using LDG ATUs and 25m feeder. The feeder length is a compromise between efficiency and ease of tuning. A longer cable will result in higher losses but it will reduce the SWR seen by the ATU and make the antenna easier to tune.

Please Note

The efficiency of the antenna is reduced for the 40m and 30m bands due to the higher cable losses.

The antennas are not designed for 80m but reception may be possible at a reduced level.

The SWR may be affected slightly by the height and local environment

The SWR measurement will be affected strongly by the cable length/attenuation

The LDG Z11 Pro is ideal for operation up to 100W. To assess the suitability of other ATUs, a tuning range of 6 - 1000 Ohms is recommended for operation across the full range of bands.

As discussed above, the demand on the ATU can be reduced by increasing the feeder length, at the cost of greater power loss in the cable.

Turning radius 2.8m (9ft)

Weight 4kg (9lbs)

Max 40 - 30m bands 240W 600W

Radiation pattern

The Dual Beam Pro has 2 main radiation lobes transmitting perpendicular to the main elements.

The typical directional gain relative to a theoretical antenna radiating equally in all directions (Isotropic gain) is:

20m: 6.6dBi @ 29 degrees elevation

15m: 7.6dBi @ 19 degrees elevation

10m: 7.4dBi @ 15 degrees elevation

Requirements

The Dual Beam Pro requires an external ATU for operation across the full range of bands.

The masthead support bracket is suitable for 32 - 50mm (1.25 - 2 inch) diameter masts. The mast can be stand-alone or a support pole attached to a building.

There is no minimum height for mounting the Dual Beam Pro but it should be at least 1m above ground and at least 1m away from other antennas mounted on the same support.

There is no maximum mounting height. Generally the higher the better for performance but the local environment will have a much greater influence. If you are at the top of a hill with clear views then the mast height will make little difference but if you are surrounded by buildings or other obstructions then a higher mast will be better.
