The Yaesu FTM-510DE ASP builds on the FTM-500DE platform with enhanced weak-signal reception, improved memory-monitoring functions and sophisticated audio processing. It combines 144MHz and 430MHz amateur-band operation with FM analogue and C4FM digital communications in one capable dual-band transceiver.
With a large touchscreen controller, genuine simultaneous dual reception, internal GPS, APRS functions and a powerful audio system, it is ideally suited to vehicles, fixed stations and operators who need to monitor several channels throughout the day.
The ASP version includes the additional processor hardware as standard, so its advanced FM weak-signal processing functions are available without installing an optional module.

Super-DX and ASP: two technologies working together
Yaesu's Super-DX function is designed to improve the reception of weak signals, while ASP processes received analogue FM audio to reduce unwanted noise. Used together, these functions help operators hear signals that may otherwise be difficult to understand.
Super-DX
Adjusts the receiver's RF processing to improve weak-signal reception in supported C4FM digital and FM analogue operation. It is especially useful where the desired signal is close to the normal reception threshold.
ASP Audio Processing
Specialised digital processing reduces the noise present in weak analogue FM audio. ASP is designed for FM analogue reception and does not replace C4FM's separate digital voice decoding.
In ASP AUTO mode, the radio can activate the audio-processing function automatically when reception conditions warrant it. Manual selection is also available for operators who prefer direct control.
These technologies can improve intelligibility under suitable conditions but do not guarantee increased communication range or recover a signal that is not present at the receiver.
Two frequencies. One capable transceiver.
The FTM-510DE ASP features independent A and B receiving paths, enabling simultaneous monitoring of two frequencies. This includes VHF/VHF, UHF/UHF and VHF/UHF combinations, together with simultaneous C4FM digital reception.
This arrangement allows operators to monitor a club frequency while listening to a repeater, follow two digital channels or keep track of local activity without constantly switching between memories.
Smarter monitoring with PMG and MAG
Enhanced PMG
Primary Memory Group allows up to five priority frequencies to be registered and monitored. Improved AUTO and MANUAL modes make it easier to select channels and follow ongoing activity.
MAG and My Group
Memory Auto Grouping organises channels by band, while the My Group function allows favourite memories from different bands to be collected together.
Auto-Fading Display
PMG channel activity indicators automatically fade when signals become inactive, keeping the display easier to read.
Touchscreen Selection
Choose operating channels using the large touchscreen and front-panel dial, making switching between active frequencies straightforward.
C4FM digital voice and traditional analogue FM
The FTM-510DE ASP supports both conventional FM and Yaesu's C4FM digital voice technology. Automatic Mode Select (AMS) identifies compatible incoming digital or analogue transmissions and switches the receive mode accordingly.
Digital functions include DG-ID, Group Monitor and compatibility with supported WIRES-X operating arrangements. These features make the radio suitable for local digital activity, club communications and wider network-connected amateur-radio use.

The FTM-510DE ASP uses Yaesu's large detachable control-head design, featuring a high-resolution colour touchscreen and adjustable viewing angle. The intuitive interface provides rapid access to frequency settings, memory functions and digital operating features.

Built-in GPS and APRS capability
The integrated GPS receiver provides position information for supported navigation and data functions. Smart Navigation offers graphical directional information on the colour display, while compatible APRS operation supports position reporting and other packet-data features.
With 1200/9600bps APRS data capability and microSD support, the FTM-510DE ASP is suited to operators who want more than conventional voice communication from their mobile station.
Add Bluetooth with the optional BU-5
The FTM-510DE ASP does not include Bluetooth as standard. Installing the optional Yaesu BU-5 Bluetooth unit enables wireless audio and hands-free operation with compatible headsets, including Yaesu's SSM-BT20 Bluetooth headset.
The BU-5 is the Bluetooth module fitted to the radio. The SSM-BT20 is the optional wireless headset. Both are sold separately. The ASP audio-processing unit is already included with this model and does not provide Bluetooth connectivity by itself.
Flexible installation with a detachable controller
The transceiver can be installed with its control head attached or positioned separately using the appropriate supplied or optional mounting accessories. This makes it easier to locate the RF unit away from the driving position while keeping the controls within convenient reach.
Optional installation accessories include control-head extension cables, dash-mounting brackets and the Yaesu SJMK-500 swing-head kit.
A suitable 13.8V DC supply and correctly fused wiring are required. In mobile installations, follow Yaesu's recommendations for direct battery connections, grounding and ventilation. For fixed-station use, select a regulated supply with adequate continuous-current capacity.
What's included?
Manufacturer documentation and standard small accessories are supplied according to the UK package. The BU-5 Bluetooth module, SSM-BT20 headset, antenna and external power supply are not included.

If you have any equipment that needs to be returned to Martin Lynch & Sons, please fill out the form below:
Upon receipt of goods you have 14 days to return goods however the goods must be returned in original packaging and care must have been taken with the goods you wish to return. Under distance selling regulations you are not entitled to any refund on carriage charges or modification charges made at your request. Large items cannot be returned if they have been assembled, unless faulty.
Warranty Terms and Conditions
Outside of the 14 faulty return period, returned items cannot be accepted, unless covered by manufacturer's warranty. We will repair as much as possible on site however in exceptional circumstances products may have to be returned to the manufacturer of distributor.
For repairs/replacements under manufacturer’s warranty for any item please download a ML&S return form from the link above and return to ML&S with the faulty product.
International Warranty information
Warranty service for items we sell is available in the U.K. only, unless otherwise noted. It is your responsibility to pay freight for returned items to the U.K. and back to you for desired warranty coverage. All of our NEW products come with a minimum 12 month warranty, (Yaesu & Icom 24 months), with up to 90 days on second-hand equipment. Items returned for service must state "returned goods for repair" on the return air waybill or U.K. import customs duties apply and will be added to your invoice.
