100W HF/50MHz All-Mode Mobile & Portable Transceiver
Serious HF performance in an exceptionally compact package. The FT-891 combines 100W RF output, a high-performance triple-conversion receiver, 3kHz roofing filter and advanced 32-bit DSP with a detachable front panel, making it ideal for mobile, portable and fixed-station operation.
Get 10% OFF an FC-50 or ATAS-120A
Purchase a Yaesu FT-891 and receive 10% off either the Yaesu FC-50 automatic antenna tuner or the ATAS-120A active tuning antenna. Choose the accessory that best suits your station and save when purchasing them together.
Discount applies to one eligible accessory when purchased with the FT-891, subject to the promotional terms. The FC-50 and ATAS-120A are optional accessories and are not included with the radio.
Take 100W of HF capability wherever you operate
The Yaesu FT-891 delivers full-power HF and 50MHz operation in a rugged, compact transceiver designed for operators who need excellent performance without the size of a traditional base-station radio.
Whether installed in a vehicle, carried to a portable operating location or used as a compact home station, the FT-891 provides the flexibility of SSB, CW, AM and FM operation. Its carefully engineered receiver, powerful DSP and high-stability oscillator system help maintain strong performance under demanding band conditions.
At approximately 1.9kg and measuring just 155 x 52 x 218mm without projecting controls, it is particularly well suited to space-conscious amateur-radio installations.
Everything you need for serious HF operating
Full-Power HF
Up to 100W SSB, CW and FM output on supported HF and 50MHz bands.
Floating-Point DSP
Advanced digital filtering for controlling interference and improving intelligibility.
Roofing Filter
Helps reduce interference from strong nearby signals before later processing stages.
High Stability
Built-in TCXO provides excellent frequency stability across the specified temperature range.
Excellent reception starts with the RF front end
The FT-891 uses a triple-conversion superheterodyne receiver for SSB, CW and AM operation. A standard 3kHz roofing filter, high-stability TCXO and carefully balanced receiver circuit help deliver the performance expected from a dedicated Yaesu HF transceiver.
The receiver design is supported by high-speed digital signal processing, offering effective interference management when the amateur bands become crowded or noisy.
Triple-Conversion Receiver
Designed to provide strong signal handling and dependable HF reception.
3kHz Roofing Filter
Attenuates strong adjacent signals entering the receiver's later stages.
Hear the signal. Reduce the interference.
The FT-891 incorporates a powerful 32-bit floating-point DSP system rated at up to 3000 MIPS. Its filtering functions allow operators to shape the received signal and reduce unwanted noise during HF and 50MHz operation.
DNR
Digital Noise Reduction helps reduce unwanted background noise.
DNF
Digital Notch Filter automatically suppresses unwanted beat tones.
CONTOUR
Shape the receiver's frequency response to emphasise useful signal components.
APF
Audio Peak Filter enhances the reception of CW signals.
Designed around the way operators actually use a radio
Despite its compact dimensions, the FT-891 offers a substantial 41mm main tuning dial with adjustable torque, a large dot-matrix LCD and a combination of intuitive controls for efficient operation.
41mm Main Dial
Large tuning control with torque adjustment for comfortable frequency selection.
Quick Spectrum Scope
Compact graphical scope for identifying nearby signal activity.
Pop-Up Menus
Convenient access to commonly adjusted functions and radio settings.
Programmable Controls
Three assignable front-panel function keys and a multi-function control knob.
Add the FC-50 automatic antenna tuner
The FT-891 does not contain a built-in automatic antenna tuner. For operators who need automatic antenna matching, Yaesu offers the optional FC-50, a compact microprocessor-controlled tuner specifically designed for the FT-891.
The FC-50 couples directly to the transceiver and connects through the dedicated TUN/LIN interface. Its matching-memory system can recall previously established tuning settings, saving time when changing frequencies.
Purchase the FC-50 together with your FT-891 and receive 10% off the tuner under the ML&S bundle promotion.
Mobile HF made easier with the ATAS-120A
The FT-891 supports Yaesu's Active Tuning Antenna System, including the optional ATAS-120A and ATAS-25 antennas. Compatible ATAS operation allows the transceiver to control antenna adjustment directly, helping simplify mobile and transportable antenna setups.
The ATAS-120A provides a practical option for operators who want an electrically adjustable antenna instead of manually changing coils or taps between supported bands. Correct vehicle mounting, grounding and antenna installation remain important for achieving good performance.
Purchase an ATAS-120A together with your FT-891 and receive 10% off the antenna as part of this special ML&S offer.
The ATAS-120A requires a suitable mount and installation. Neither the ATAS-120A nor the FC-50 is included as standard.
USB CAT control and flexible digital operation
The FT-891 features a native USB connection for computer control through a virtual serial port. Compatible software can control frequency, operating mode and other supported transceiver functions using CAT commands.
Computer-based digital modes such as FT8, FT4, PSK31 and RTTY are possible with suitable software and audio/PTT connections. For digital modes requiring sound-card audio, an appropriate external interface or audio cabling is needed.
Unlike transceivers with an integrated USB sound card, the FT-891's USB port does not carry receive and transmit audio. USB alone is therefore not a complete FT8 audio interface.
Big HF capability. Small installation footprint.
Measuring just 155 x 52 x 218mm without projecting controls, the FT-891 is easy to accommodate in vehicles, compact operating desks and transportable radio systems. The detachable front panel provides added installation flexibility.
The die-cast chassis incorporates a substantial heat-transfer structure and two thermostatically controlled internal cooling fans, helping manage temperature during demanding transmitting sessions.
The FT-891 requires a suitable regulated 13.8V DC supply and draws approximately 23A at maximum transmitting power. For fixed-station use, choose a supply with adequate continuous-current capacity. For mobile and portable operation, ensure the wiring, fusing and battery system are appropriate.
What's included?
The FC-50 automatic antenna tuner, ATAS-120A antenna, external 13.8V DC power supply, coaxial cable and digital-mode sound-card interface are not included.
