The Icom IC-7300MK2 builds on the radio that helped redefine affordable HF SDR performance. It retains Icom's RF direct-sampling architecture while introducing a range of improvements to receiver performance, transmitted signal quality, cooling, connectivity and remote operation.
Reciprocal Mixing Dynamic Range has been improved to approximately 105dB typical at 2kHz separation. Transmit phase-noise performance is also improved by approximately 12dB at 1kHz separation compared with the original IC-7300.
Power efficiency has also been improved. Typical receive standby current is reduced from approximately 0.9A to 0.7A, helping to reduce heat generation and maintain stable operation during long operating sessions and contests.
HDMI output, Ethernet connectivity, RX antenna IN/OUT connections, a built-in CW decoder and USB Type-C with dual virtual COM ports make the IC-7300MK2 considerably easier to integrate into a modern amateur radio station.
Improved weak-signal performance when operating close to strong adjacent signals.
Display frequency, scope, waterfall and menus on an external monitor, with audio output via HDMI.
RS-BA1 Version 2 remote operation without requiring a base-station PC at the radio.
Dual virtual COM ports plus audio input and output through a single USB connection.
Improved RMDR and Phase Noise
The IC-7300MK2 achieves approximately 105dB RMDR typical at 2kHz separation, improving its ability to recover weaker signals in the presence of strong nearby stations.
Transmit phase-noise characteristics are also improved by approximately 12dB at 1kHz separation compared with the previous model, reducing unwanted noise components in the transmitted signal.
Lower Heat Generation and Power Consumption
Through revised component selection and DC power optimisation, the IC-7300MK2 reduces heat generation during extended operation. Typical receive standby current has been reduced from approximately 0.9A to 0.7A.
External Display & Audio
Connect an external display to show frequency, scope, waterfall, menus and other operating information. Audio can also be passed through HDMI to compatible display speakers.
RX Antenna IN / OUT
Dedicated receive antenna connections allow alternative RX antennas, external band-pass filters and preamplifiers to be incorporated into the station.
Simplified RS-BA1 Remote Control
With its Ethernet connection, the IC-7300MK2 can be operated remotely using RS-BA1 Version 2 without requiring a base-station computer alongside the radio. The radio can also be remotely switched on or off through the network.
Built-In CW Decoder & USB Type-C
The built-in CW decoder can display received Morse code directly on the radio without requiring a PC or separate decoder. The decode filter automatically follows the target signal while keying speed is adjusted automatically.
USB Type-C provides two virtual COM ports together with audio input and output. This allows applications such as FT8 software, logging programs and contest software to operate simultaneously through one USB cable.
