Our EFHW 49:1 Antenna Kit is perfect for radio enthusiasts looking to build their own end-fed half-wave (EFHW) antenna. The kit includes a high-quality 49:1 1KW transformer 50 meters of wire and an accessory pack, giving you everything you need to set up the antenna out of the box.

Use just over 20m of wire for an end-fed half wave for 40m, 20m, 15m, and 10m bands. 

Use just over 38.4m of wire for an end-fed half wave for 80m, 40m, 20m, 15m, and 10m bands. 

With an AMU/ATU, you might also get 30m, 17m, 12m & 6m bands, depending on your setup.

Tuning and Adjustments: The actual length might need slight adjustments to account for surrounding objects, ground effects, and the wire's velocity factor. When cutting your wire to length add about 6-10 Inch You can always fold this back on itself when fine-tuning.

Cautions

  • Digital modes, If used with an external tuner, reduce power on bands with SWR above 1.2.
  • Avoid transmitting with high power or high SWR to prevent overheating and damage to the Unun, which voids the warranty.
  • *** IF THE UNUN MELTS - YOU HAVE USED IT WITH TOO MUCH POWER WITH A HIGH SWR & THE WARRANTY IS VOID ***
 

To calculate the length of your end-fed half-wave (EFHW) antenna, you can use the following formula:

L=468/f


Where:

  • L is the length of the antenna in feet.
  • f is the frequency in MHz.

Steps:

  1. Determine the Operating Frequency: Identify the frequency you want the antenna to resonate at (e.g., 7.1 MHz for the 40-meter band).
  2. Apply the Formula: Substitute the frequency into the formula.

Example:

For a frequency of 7.1 MHz:

L = 468/7.1 = 65.92
 
Convert to meters if needed: 1 foot = 0.3048 meters
L=65.92×0.3048=20.1 meters

Upon receipt of goods you have 14 days to return goods however the goods must be returned in original packaging and care must have been taken with the goods you wish to return. Under distance selling regulations you are not entitled to any refund on carriage charges or modification charges made at your request. Large items cannot be returned if they have been assembled, unless faulty.

Warranty Terms and Conditions

Outside of the 14 faulty return period, returned items cannot be accepted, unless covered by manufacturer's warranty. We will repair as much as possible on site however in exceptional circumstances products may have to be returned to the manufacturer of distributor.

For repairs/replacements under manufacturer’s warranty for any item please download a ML&S return form from the link above and return to ML&S with the faulty product.

International Warranty information

Warranty service for items we sell is available in the U.K. only, unless otherwise noted. It is your responsibility to pay freight for returned items to the U.K. and back to you for desired warranty coverage. All of our NEW products come with a minimum 12 month warranty, (Yaesu & Icom 24 months), with up to 90 days on second-hand equipment. Items returned for service must state "returned goods for repair" on the return air waybill or U.K. import customs duties apply and will be added to your invoice.
