The Icom IC-R8600 is a serious wideband communications receiver covering an enormous 10kHz to 3GHz frequency range in tuning steps as fine as 1Hz.
Alongside conventional USB, LSB, CW, FSK, AM, synchronous AM, FM and WFM reception, the IC-R8600 can decode a range of digital voice systems including D-STAR, NXDN, dPMR, APCO P25 and DCR.
The receiver uses Icom's software-defined signal-processing technology, combining FPGA and DSP processing with a 14-bit A/D converter. Direct-sampling is used through the HF range, with conversion stages used as frequency increases through VHF, UHF and microwave coverage.
A 4.3-inch colour touchscreen, high-speed real-time spectrum scope, waterfall display, extensive memory system, SD card recording and optional network remote control make the IC-R8600 a highly capable receiver for monitoring, signal analysis and general communications use.

From HF to 3GHz
The IC-R8600 receives conventional USB, LSB, FSK, CW, AM, S-AM, FM and WFM signals together with several commonly encountered digital voice modes.
Supported digital formats include APCO P25 Phase 1, D-STAR, NXDN, dPMR and Japanese DCR, allowing one receiver to cover an exceptionally broad range of communications signals.
FPGA and DSP Demodulation
A 14-bit A/D converter operating at a 122.88MHz sampling rate feeds Icom's FPGA and DSP processing system. HF signals are directly sampled, while VHF and UHF signals are converted to intermediate frequencies before digital processing.
Extensive RF Filtering
The IC-R8600 uses 11 discrete RF band-pass filters on HF and 13 band-pass filters across VHF/UHF, helping reject strong unwanted signals before they can overload the receiver.
Published performance includes a +30dBm IP3 and 105dB dynamic range at 14.1MHz, with +10dBm IP3 at 144MHz and 0dBm at 440MHz.
Absolute Signal Strength
Select S-meter, dBµ, dBµ emf or dBm displays. Icom specifies ±3dB accuracy from 0.5-1100MHz and less than ±6dB from 1100-3000MHz.
4.3-inch Colour Display
Touchscreen operation combines operating information, spectrum display and menu functions with three multi-function control dials.
Real-Time Spectrum Scope with Waterfall
The real-time scope provides a display span of up to ±2.5MHz, approximately 30 frames per second maximum sweep speed and up to 110dB dynamic range at the specified narrow span.
Touch the spectrum or waterfall to tune directly to activity, or use Peak Search to identify signal peaks within the displayed range.
2000 Memories and Comprehensive Scanning
Up to 2000 regular memory channels can be divided across 100 groups, alongside scan-edge, skip and auto-memory write channels.
Program, fine program, Δf, priority, memory, selected memory and automatic memory write scans are supported, with memory scanning at up to approximately 100 channels per second.
Record Received Audio
Received audio can be recorded to an SD card in WAVE format. A 32GB card provides up to approximately 270 hours of recording capacity.
IP Network or USB
Optional RS-R8600 software allows most receiver functions, spectrum data and received audio to be accessed from a Windows PC over an IP network or USB connection.

If you have any equipment that needs to be returned to Martin Lynch & Sons, please fill out the form below:
Upon receipt of goods you have 14 days to return goods however the goods must be returned in original packaging and care must have been taken with the goods you wish to return. Under distance selling regulations you are not entitled to any refund on carriage charges or modification charges made at your request. Large items cannot be returned if they have been assembled, unless faulty.
Warranty Terms and Conditions
Outside of the 14 faulty return period, returned items cannot be accepted, unless covered by manufacturer's warranty. We will repair as much as possible on site however in exceptional circumstances products may have to be returned to the manufacturer of distributor.
For repairs/replacements under manufacturer’s warranty for any item please download a ML&S return form from the link above and return to ML&S with the faulty product.
International Warranty information
Warranty service for items we sell is available in the U.K. only, unless otherwise noted. It is your responsibility to pay freight for returned items to the U.K. and back to you for desired warranty coverage. All of our NEW products come with a minimum 12 month warranty, (Yaesu & Icom 24 months), with up to 90 days on second-hand equipment. Items returned for service must state "returned goods for repair" on the return air waybill or U.K. import customs duties apply and will be added to your invoice.
