Built for Minimum Signal Loss

Far lower loss than RG213. Dramatically lower loss than RG-8X.

BROAD-PRO 50C is M&P's performance-first 10.3mm cable, using a large solid copper centre conductor and all-copper screening to minimise attenuation across HF, VHF, UHF and beyond.

Messi & Paoloni BROAD-PRO 50C LSZH /.400" is a premium 50 ohm coaxial cable designed for installations where achieving the lowest practical feed-line loss takes priority.

At approximately the same overall diameter as conventional RG213/U, BROAD-PRO 50C delivers substantially lower attenuation. M&P achieves this using a 2.76mm solid conductor made from 99.9% pure bare copper, a high-pressure physically foamed dielectric and a completely copper screening system.

Compared with RG-8 Mini / RG-8X, the improvement is even greater. The difference becomes particularly significant on longer cable runs and as operating frequency rises, where feed-line attenuation can consume a substantial proportion of both transmitted power and received signal.

PERFORMANCE
Far Better Than RG213

Significantly lower attenuation than conventional RG213/U despite sharing the same general 10mm cable class.

UPGRADE
Huge Upgrade from RG-8X

Dramatically lower losses make it a major performance upgrade from RG-8X, particularly on VHF and UHF.

CONDUCTOR
Solid Pure-Copper Core

Large 2.76mm solid conductor made from 99.9% pure bare copper for outstanding RF performance.

JACKET
LSZH Jacket

UV-resistant Low Smoke Zero Halogen outer jacket for professional and demanding fixed installations.

Ultra-Low Loss

Performance Comes First

BROAD-PRO 50C is aimed squarely at operators who want to minimise the amount of RF power being lost in the feed line.

M&P specifies attenuation of only 1.3dB per 100m at 14MHz, 2.5dB at 50MHz, 4.4dB at 144MHz, 7.8dB at 430MHz and 14.1dB at 1296MHz.

Even at 2400MHz, attenuation is specified at just 19.8dB per 100m, demonstrating why BROAD-PRO 50C is particularly attractive for higher-frequency work and demanding long-distance RF installations.

Cable Comparison

See the Difference Against RG213 and RG-8X

Lower attenuation means more of your signal reaches the antenna on transmit and more of the received signal reaches your radio.

Frequency BROAD-PRO 50C Typical RG213/U Typical RG-8X
50MHz 2.5dB / 100m Approx. 4.6dB / 100m Approx. 6.6dB / 100m
100MHz 3.6dB / 100m Approx. 6.6dB / 100m Approx. 9.8dB / 100m
400MHz 7.5dB / 100m Approx. 14.1dB / 100m Approx. 19.7dB / 100m

RG213/U and RG-8X figures are representative values and may vary between manufacturers and individual cable constructions.

Why Upgrade?

If you are currently considering RG213, BROAD-PRO 50C offers substantially lower attenuation without requiring a significantly larger outside diameter.

If you are replacing RG-8X, the difference is dramatic, particularly on longer VHF and UHF feed lines where ordinary small coax can quickly become the weakest part of the station.

Fixed Installation

Performance First, Rather Than Maximum Flexibility

BROAD-PRO 50C achieves its excellent attenuation figures partly through its large solid 2.76mm copper centre conductor. This makes it an excellent choice for fixed feed-line installations where RF performance is the priority.

It is not intended to be the most flexible 10.3mm cable in the M&P range. Its specified minimum bend radius is 103mm for repeated bending and 65mm for a single bend or choke.

For installations involving repeated movement, very tight routing or antenna rotator loops, a stranded-conductor cable such as ULTRAFLEX 10C Competition or CONTEST-FLEX 10 is the more appropriate choice.

RF Construction

All-Copper RF Construction

BROAD-PRO 50C uses copper throughout the parts of the cable responsible for carrying and screening the RF signal.

The centre conductor is made from 99.9% pure bare copper. The first screen is a 100% copper foil, followed by a 144-wire copper reactive braid with approximately 71% coverage.

M&P manufactures the braid using a 24-spool process rather than a conventional 16-spool machine. The additional crossover points improve screening performance and allow the braid to react to bending and twisting in a spring-like manner.

Outer Jacket

UV-Resistant LSZH Jacket

The outer jacket is made from UV-resistant black LSZH material. LSZH stands for Low Smoke Zero Halogen and is intended to limit smoke and avoid halogen emissions when the cable is exposed to flame.

The cable is manufactured in accordance with relevant M&P construction and screening standards, including EN 50117, CEI EN 50289 and IEC 60332-1-2, with CPR compliance under EN50575.

RF Isolation

A++ Screening Performance

BROAD-PRO 50C provides screening efficiency greater than 105dB between 100MHz and 2000MHz, earning M&P's A++ screening classification.

This high level of screening helps minimise unwanted RF ingress and radiation from the feed line, making the cable particularly suitable for demanding stations with multiple transmitters, receivers, amplifiers and antennas operating in close proximity.

High-Power Operation

Serious Power Handling

BROAD-PRO 50C is also extremely capable in high-power installations. At a cable temperature of 40°C, M&P specifies continuous power handling of approximately 5180W at 14MHz, 2769W at 50MHz, 1682W at 144MHz and 947W at 430MHz.

Maximum Peak Power
14,500W Maximum Peak Power

M&P specifies a maximum peak-power rating of 14.5kW. Continuous power capability depends on frequency and cable temperature, so the detailed continuous-carrier ratings should be used when planning demanding high-power installations.

Applications

Where BROAD-PRO 50C Works Best

BASE STATIONS
High-Performance Base Stations

Ideal for permanent installations where minimising feed-line loss takes priority over maximum cable flexibility.

LONG RUNS
Long Feed Lines

Extremely low attenuation helps retain transmitted power and weak received signals over substantial cable runs.

HIGH FREQUENCY
VHF, UHF and Microwave

Excellent attenuation figures make BROAD-PRO particularly attractive as frequency rises.

POWER
High-Power Stations

Strong continuous-carrier ratings and a 14.5kW peak specification suit demanding amplifier installations.

RG213
Replacing RG213

An obvious performance upgrade where existing RG213-sized cable routes can accommodate a 10.3mm feed line.

PROFESSIONAL
Professional RF Installations

LSZH jacket, A++ screening and all-copper RF construction suit more demanding communications environments.
