ANAN-G2E-20 Ultra High Dynamic Range HF & 6M SDR Transceiver

The ANAN-G2E-20 is the successor to the popular ANAN-10E, and is now the model to look at if you were previously considering the 10E. It continues the same compact, high-performance SDR concept, but with updated hardware and specifications, including a 16-bit ADC, Intel Cyclone 10 FPGA, wider receive coverage, Gigabit Ethernet protocol support and increased 6M output capability.

Designed for serious SDR operators, the ANAN-G2E-20 offers excellent HF and 6M performance in a compact 13.8V DC-powered transceiver. With continuous receive coverage from 9kHz to 60MHz, full duplex operation and support for two independent receivers with suitable PC software, it is well suited to home stations, digital modes, contesting, DX chasing and advanced SDR experimentation.

At the heart of the G2E-20 is a 16-bit ADC and Intel Cyclone 10 FPGA, providing excellent receiver performance with a typical dynamic range of 125dB. Each of the two supported receivers can display up to 1536kHz of spectrum, giving operators a wide view of band activity and excellent flexibility when monitoring multiple parts of the spectrum.

The radio supports HPSDR Protocol 2 firmware at Gigabit Ethernet speed, with FPGA code updates available via the standard TCP/IP network connection. A built-in broadcast band reject filter helps reduce strong AM broadcast interference and can be bypassed when required.

Transmit performance is also strong, with up to 20W RF output on 160m to 10m and 10-15W on 6m. Full duplex operation is supported across the entire 160m to 6m range, with any split supported. Transmit and receive image rejection is better than 110dB, while transmitter two-tone 3rd order IMD is rated at -50dBc on 20m at 10W PEP.

For station integration, the ANAN-G2E-20 includes a built-in high-performance preamp, software-selectable 31dB input attenuator in 1dB steps, seven user-configurable open-collector outputs, a separate open-collector PTT connection for amplifier control, four user-configurable 12-bit analogue inputs and three user-configurable digital inputs.

Whether you are upgrading from an ANAN-10E or looking for a compact, high dynamic range HF and 6M SDR transceiver, the ANAN-G2E-20 offers a powerful and flexible platform for modern software-defined radio operation.

ANAN-G2E-20 vs ANAN-10E - What’s Changed?

The ANAN-G2E-20 replaces the ANAN-10E as the current compact HF and 6M SDR transceiver in the range. While it keeps the same overall idea of a compact, high-performance SDR platform, there are several specification updates worth noting.

The G2E-20 features a 16-bit ADC, compared with the 14-bit ADC/DAC design listed for the ANAN-10E. Receive coverage has also been extended, with the G2E-20 offering continuous coverage from 9kHz to 60MHz, compared with 10kHz to 55MHz on the ANAN-10E.

Spectrum display capability has also been increased. The ANAN-10E supported two independent receivers with spectrum displays at 48/96/192kHz, while the G2E-20 supports two fully independent receivers with up to 1536kHz of spectrum per receiver, when used with suitable PC software.

On transmit power, the G2E-20 provides 20W on 160m to 10m and 10-15W on 6m, compared with the ANAN-10E’s quoted 10-20W on HF and 8-10W on 6m.

The G2E-20 also now uses an Intel Cyclone 10 FPGA and supports HPSDR Protocol 2 firmware at Gigabit Ethernet speed, making it the natural replacement for customers who were previously looking at the ANAN-10E.
