An ultra-compact 40-10m End Fed Half Wave antenna designed for operators who want to minimise pack size and weight without giving up full 100W SSB capability.
The SPOOLTENNA ULTRA-EFHW4010 takes the quick-deploy SPOOLTENNA concept and shrinks it into a package just 76 mm in diameter and approximately 162 g.
Designed for POTA, SOTA, backpacking, travelling and lightweight portable stations, the complete 65 ft radiating element winds directly onto the antenna body. It is factory tuned for the 40m, 20m, 15m and 10m amateur bands and requires no external antenna tuner under normal operation on those bands.
Built for Minimum Pack Size
The ULTRA version prioritises minimum size and weight. Its spool measures only 76 mm across, compared with 120 mm for the larger PARKS version, while the complete antenna weighs just 5.7 oz / approximately 162 g.
That makes it particularly attractive when the antenna is being carried with a lightweight transceiver, battery and feedline for a hilltop activation, portable holiday station or long-distance walk.
No Separate Wire Winder Required
The matching circuit and wire spool form one compact assembly, so the antenna can travel as a single self-contained unit rather than requiring a separate winder for the radiating element.
A low-profile winding knob makes recovery straightforward, while the supplied BongoTies® tie secures the wire once it has been wound back onto the spool.
Use a Screwdriver as the Axle
The 8 mm centre hole is designed so that a standard screwdriver can be passed through the spool and used as a temporary axle. Hold the axle and walk towards your operating position while the radiating wire unwinds from the spool behind you. The screwdriver is not supplied.
65 ft of 26 AWG BCCS Wire
To achieve the ULTRA's exceptionally low packed weight, the antenna uses approximately 65 ft of 26 AWG Bare Copper Clad Steel wire.
The high-strength, high-conductivity BCCS conductor is protected by a UV-resistant polyethylene jacket, providing a lightweight radiating element suited to repeated portable deployment.
No External ATU Required

Ready to Deploy, with Room for Final Adjustment
Each ULTRA-EFHW4010 is factory tuned before shipment, but additional wire length is deliberately left available for final adjustment. Installation height, angle and nearby objects can influence resonance, so this gives you room to optimise the antenna for your own preferred deployment.
Rear Thermal Venting
Thermal venting is incorporated into the rear of the ULTRA spool to help dissipate heat from the captive matching circuit during higher-duty-cycle operating modes.
BNC Feed & Quick-Release Radiating Element
RF connection is through a right-angle BNC female socket, positioning the feedline alongside the body of the spool rather than pointing directly away from it.
The radiating element connects through a 4 mm banana jack, allowing it to be disconnected quickly when required. Strain relief is provided at both ends of the radiating element to help protect the connections during deployment.
8 mm Mounting Points Front & Rear
The front and rear faces incorporate 8 mm mounting holes, providing several options for hanging, supporting or securing the spool as part of a portable antenna installation.
Keep the Complete Station Lightweight
SPOOLTENNA designed the ULTRA for use with lightweight portable coax such as RG-174 or RG-316. These cables help maintain the low overall weight of the station and avoid placing unnecessary mechanical strain on the BNC connector.
The manufacturer specifically cautions that heavier coax such as RG-8 or RG-8X can place undue strain on the BNC connection of a lightweight field antenna.
Serial-Specific Field Test Report Included
Every ULTRA-EFHW4010 is individually field tested and supplied with a Field Testing Report corresponding to that antenna's serial number.

Upon receipt of goods you have 14 days to return goods however the goods must be returned in original packaging and care must have been taken with the goods you wish to return. Under distance selling regulations you are not entitled to any refund on carriage charges or modification charges made at your request. Large items cannot be returned if they have been assembled, unless faulty.
Warranty Terms and Conditions
Outside of the 14 faulty return period, returned items cannot be accepted, unless covered by manufacturer's warranty. We will repair as much as possible on site however in exceptional circumstances products may have to be returned to the manufacturer of distributor.
For repairs/replacements under manufacturer’s warranty for any item please download a ML&S return form from the link above and return to ML&S with the faulty product.
International Warranty information
Warranty service for items we sell is available in the U.K. only, unless otherwise noted. It is your responsibility to pay freight for returned items to the U.K. and back to you for desired warranty coverage. All of our NEW products come with a minimum 12 month warranty, (Yaesu & Icom 24 months), with up to 90 days on second-hand equipment. Items returned for service must state "returned goods for repair" on the return air waybill or U.K. import customs duties apply and will be added to your invoice.
