The Yaesu FTX-1 Field combines HF, 50MHz, 70MHz, 144MHz and 430MHz amateur-band operation in a compact SDR transceiver. Designed for operators who want to take a capable station away from the shack, it brings SSB, CW, AM, FM and C4FM digital voice into one portable package.
Whether you enjoy Summits on the Air, Parks on the Air, portable DX, field days or operating from the garden, the FTX-1 provides sophisticated digital signal processing, a 4.3-inch colour touchscreen, wide receive coverage and the flexibility to operate from its supplied battery or an external DC supply.
The Field is the portable-only version of the FTX-1 series. The more powerful FTX-1 Optima uses the same Field Head but adds the SPA-1 RF amplifier for high-power base-station use.
Two ways to power your station
Standalone Battery Operation
Fit the included SBR-52LI 6,400mAh lithium-ion battery to the rear of the radio for cable-free operation. Output is adjustable up to 6W, with a separate 5W QRP setting.
External 13.8V DC Operation
Connect a suitable external DC power supply for up to 10W on supported bands. The UK 70MHz configuration is limited to lower power, as specified by Yaesu. External DC also enables charging of the fitted battery.
Yaesu quotes up to approximately nine hours on HF SSB and eight hours on VHF/UHF FM under its specified 6-6-48 duty-cycle test conditions. Real operating time will vary with transmit power, receiving activity, screen settings and battery condition.
High-performance reception in a portable package
The FTX-1 uses high-resolution analogue-to-digital conversion and FPGA-based processing, drawing on technology developed for Yaesu's FTDX10. Its receiver combines direct sampling below 48MHz with IF sampling at higher frequencies, providing wide coverage from shortwave to UHF.
Carefully engineered RF front-end filtering, a high-purity 110.592MHz sampling clock and fast 32-bit DSP processing contribute to clear reception and effective management of interference.
SHIFT and WIDTH
Adjust the position and width of the receiver passband to reduce nearby interference.
NOTCH and CONTOUR
Reduce interfering carriers and shape the received audio response.
DNR and Noise Blanker
Digital noise reduction and impulse-noise suppression for more comfortable listening.
CW Audio Peak Filter
APF functionality helps emphasise CW signals during narrow-band reception.
Monitor two frequencies simultaneously
Unlike many compact portable transceivers, the FTX-1 Field supports true dual-band reception. Listen to HF and VHF, HF and UHF, or two VHF/UHF frequencies at the same time, including simultaneous C4FM digital reception on supported combinations.
HF/V, HF/U, V/U, U/V, V/V and U/U. Simultaneous HF/HF reception is not supported.
This makes the FTX-1 particularly useful when operating HF while monitoring a local repeater, coordinating portable activity or following digital voice channels.
4.3-inch touchscreen and 3DSS spectrum display
The FTX-1 Field is fitted with a high-resolution colour TFT touchscreen. Yaesu's three-dimensional spectrum stream display shows changes in signal activity, while the physical VFO and FUNC controls retain the tactile operating experience expected from a dedicated amateur transceiver.

Stay powered wherever you operate
The supplied SBR-52LI battery attaches directly to the rear of the Field Head. Its 6,400mAh capacity provides standalone operation without an external battery or power cable.
Charging is supported using a suitable USB Type-C Power Delivery charger, with Yaesu specifying a charger rated at 45W or greater and the appropriate 15V output. The Field Head can also charge the fitted battery when connected to a suitable external 13.8V DC supply.
Need a compatible charger?
A mains USB-C PD charger is required for USB charging and is not included as part of the standard Field package. Check the charger's supported output profiles before use.

The FTX-1 Field does not contain a built-in automatic antenna tuner. When operating with antennas that require impedance matching, Yaesu offers the optional FC-80 clip-on automatic tuner and FC-90 external long-wire tuner, both designed for suitable Field Head operation.
Other compatible antenna arrangements include the ATAS-120A active tuning antenna and ATAS-25 manually tuned portable antenna, subject to the correct connection and power requirements. The ATAS-120A requires external 13.8V DC power for compatible operation.

The FTX-1 Field uses the same core transceiver as the Optima. The Optima adds the SPA-1 power amplifier, allowing up to 100W HF/50MHz and 50W VHF/UHF operation with an external DC supply, plus an integrated HF/50MHz antenna tuner.

Installation and Compatibility Notes
External power: The radio supports a suitable regulated 13.8V DC supply, drawing approximately 3A at its specified 10W output.
UK 70MHz: Operation depends on the destination configuration. Maximum output on 70MHz is lower than the general 10W external-power rating.
SCF-1: The cooling fan occupies the rear position normally used by the SBR-52LI battery. These items cannot be mounted together in that position.
Portable tuning: Optional FC-80 and FC-90 antenna tuners are available for compatible Field Head installations.
Power upgrade: The separately purchased SPA-1 amplifier allows the Field Head to be converted into the higher-power Optima configuration.

If you have any equipment that needs to be returned to Martin Lynch & Sons, please fill out the form below:
Upon receipt of goods you have 14 days to return goods however the goods must be returned in original packaging and care must have been taken with the goods you wish to return. Under distance selling regulations you are not entitled to any refund on carriage charges or modification charges made at your request. Large items cannot be returned if they have been assembled, unless faulty.
Warranty Terms and Conditions
Outside of the 14 faulty return period, returned items cannot be accepted, unless covered by manufacturer's warranty. We will repair as much as possible on site however in exceptional circumstances products may have to be returned to the manufacturer of distributor.
For repairs/replacements under manufacturer’s warranty for any item please download a ML&S return form from the link above and return to ML&S with the faulty product.
International Warranty information
Warranty service for items we sell is available in the U.K. only, unless otherwise noted. It is your responsibility to pay freight for returned items to the U.K. and back to you for desired warranty coverage. All of our NEW products come with a minimum 12 month warranty, (Yaesu & Icom 24 months), with up to 90 days on second-hand equipment. Items returned for service must state "returned goods for repair" on the return air waybill or U.K. import customs duties apply and will be added to your invoice.
