microHAM's ARXC.WIND interface unit connects the ARCO controller to a wind sensor and enables the measurement of wind speed and direction. By continuously monitoring these two values, ARCO can automatically turn the antenna with the highest wind load away from the wind. This reduces stress on the antenna and tower and helps prevent possible damage, even when the station is unmanned.

The sensor can be connected to separate or combined, readily available wind sensors that provide industry-standard outputs of 0 to 10 V or 0 to 5 V, and supports internal sensor heating with up to 200 mA at 12 V. It operates in two speed ranges and allows the direction to be reversed.

The ARXC.WIND module is designed to interface with a range of wind speed sensors, particularly anemometers, that provide 0 - 10V or 0 - 5V analogue outputs. The interface module provides a 12V power supply for the sensor and uses an internal A/D converter to sample the measurement outputs and control the output for the sensor's heating function. If your sensor is not equipped with a heating function but one is needed, the user can install a 68-ohm wire resistor with 3–5 W in the sensor. The resistor generates sufficient heat to prevent the sensor from freezing at low temperatures.

All operational parameters can be configured directly on the screen of your ARCO controller. For example, tolerances, delay values, units of measurement and heating can be set here, and information on wind speed and direction can be read. Of course, the module can also be switched off completely.

The micro HAM ARXC.WIND module is a useful addition to protect your antenna system, which fits seamlessly into the existing infrastructure. No matter whether you are at work or on vacation: the components of your setup are always protected from strong winds in the best possible way.
