One compact desktop CW keyer for Morse practice, on-air operation and computer-assisted contesting, with WinKey compatibility, three message memories and built-in audio.
The Chelegance JKEYER-CPO16 combines a full-featured electronic CW keyer with a standalone practice oscillator, making it equally useful at the home station or as part of a portable CW setup.
Connect a paddle or straight key for standalone operation using the built-in speaker or 3.5mm audio output, or connect the JKEYER-CPO16 to a compatible transceiver for on-air CW keying.
Its WinKey-compatible USB interface also allows integration with supported logging and contest software while retaining normal paddle operation.
Practice, Operate or Integrate
For off-air practice, simply connect a paddle or straight key and use the internal speaker or 3.5mm audio output. CW and PTT transmission outputs can be disabled while practising.
For on-air operation, the opto-isolated CW output can key a compatible transceiver while the separate PTT output provides adjustable lead and tail timing.
For computer-assisted operation, the WinKey-compatible USB interface allows supported logging and contest applications to communicate directly with the keyer.
Use Your Preferred Key
Dedicated inputs support both an iambic paddle and a straight key, allowing the JKEYER-CPO16 to serve both conventional straight-key operators and electronic-paddle users.
Speed, Tone & Volume
Dedicated rotary controls provide immediate adjustment of CW speed, sidetone frequency and audio volume. The speed control can also be electronically locked to prevent accidental changes.
The JKEYER-CPO16 generates a continuously adjustable DDS sine-wave sidetone of approximately 350-900Hz. Audio is available through the built-in speaker or the 3.5mm headphone / line output.
M1, M2 & M3
Three programmable message memories provide quick access to frequently transmitted CW, particularly useful for repeated CQ calls, contest exchanges and standard operating messages.
Messages can be transmitted once from the front-panel memory buttons or configured for automatic repeating operation.
Opto-Isolated CW & PTT Outputs
Separate opto-isolated CW and PTT outputs provide electrical isolation between the keyer and connected station equipment.
PTT lead and tail timing can be adjusted, helping accommodate equipment such as amplifiers where transmit switching needs to occur before the first keyed element or remain active briefly after transmission.
WinKey-Compatible USB Interface
Connect the JKEYER-CPO16 to a computer through USB-C for integration with software supporting the WinKey protocol.
Chelegance documents operation with N1MM Logger+, including software control of keying mode, CW speed, paddle reversal, sidetone and PTT timing parameters. The USB interface uses a CH340 serial device and may require the appropriate driver on the host computer.
The JKEYER-CPO16 operates from 5V DC via USB-C, with a specified operating range of 4.3-5.5V DC and typical current consumption of approximately 30-100mA at 5V.
When using a USB power bank, choose one capable of maintaining output with a low-current load. Some power banks automatically switch off when the connected equipment draws very little current.
Avoid Double Sidetones
When operating a transceiver that generates its own CW sidetone, adjust or mute either the radio's sidetone or the JKEYER-CPO16 sidetone as required to avoid hearing both simultaneously.
