Configure a VFLEX Base for the required output, choose an appropriate X Connector adaptor lead and connect a capable USB-C PD power source. The result is a compact, adaptable approach to powering portable stations, QRP equipment and smaller devices around the shack.
THE TECHNOLOGY
One interface. Configurable DC output.
The VFLEX Base is a USB-C Power Delivery negotiation interface, not a power supply in its own right. Using the VFLEX application, you configure the required output voltage and store that setting in the device. When connected to a suitable USB-C PD source, VFLEX attempts to negotiate the requested output.
Selectable output voltage, subject to the power source and supported PD mode.
The source, USB-C cable, output lead and load must all be suitably rated.
Choose the appropriate DC connector size and centre polarity for your equipment.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION
Powering the Icom IC-705
The IC-705 is a good example of why configurable DC power is useful. Its external DC input is designed for 13.8V, and a suitable external supply enables the radio's maximum rated 10W RF output, rather than the lower output available on its internal battery.
The VFLEX Type C centre-positive lead uses a 5.5mm outer / 2.5mm inner barrel connector. With a correctly configured VFLEX Base and a suitably rated USB-C PD source and cable, it offers a compact external power arrangement for the IC-705.

Choose the right X Connector lead
VFLEX separates the configurable Base from the output adaptor cable, making it practical to use one power system with different compatible pieces of equipment. Always select the right connector size and polarity.

- Check your equipment's rated input voltage, power consumption, connector dimensions and polarity.
- Choose a suitable USB-C PD charger or power bank and a correctly rated USB-C cable.
- Connect the VFLEX Base to a phone, tablet or computer, and configure its output using the VFLEX app.
- Connect VFLEX to the PD power source and confirm successful voltage negotiation before attaching sensitive equipment.
- Fit the correct X Connector adaptor lead and connect the load, checking the output and polarity where practical.

Verify the load voltage, maximum current, connector fit and centre polarity, plus the power rating and USB-C PD modes of your supply and cable. An incorrect voltage or polarity can damage connected equipment.
VFLEX output cables have fixed polarity. A centre-positive lead cannot be converted into a centre-negative lead in the app. If in doubt, check the manufacturer's manual and measure the output before connecting.
